Being pregnant and having a new baby in a rural area poses significant challenges for moms. The Public Health (PH) teams at Mariposa County and Tuolumne County are working on a joint effort to gather information from area moms about their challenges and experiences. The information will be used to improve access to maternal and perinatal care in rural communities. They're offering a $50 gift card for participation.

Mom's will participate in a focus-group style interview with other moms, for about 60-90 minutes.

They'll share their experiences with accessing and receiving care throughout the time they were pregnant, and through the first year after the baby is born.

Participants should be 18 years of age or older and have been pregnant within the last 5 years. They will have lived in Calaveras, Mariposa, or Tuolumne County during any portion of their pregnancy. Importantly, they are looking for all pregnancy outcomes.

Moms who are interested will complete a screening survey, by using the QR code on the flyer or visiting the link https://tinyurl.com/MomFocusGroups.

A date will be scheduled when they have enough moms for a focus group. Please complete the screening survey as soon as you know you are interested.

The Mariposa Health & Wellness Coalition is an unincorporated community group. It does not have staff, funding, or raise money. It is run by its members, who donate their time and energy. The Mariposa County Tobacco Education Program provides some nonfinancial support because the Coalition promotes smoke-free communities and preventing youth access to nicotine and other tobacco products..
